About me

Hi,

I’m Joe Dunn, a Data Engineer and Mentor with a passion for turning data into meaningful insights.

Early Life

Born in Bozeman, MT, I spent my early years enjoying the beauty of the Rocky Mountains. Before high school, my family moved to the Eastern Shore of Virginia, where I developed a strong sense of adaptability and resilience.

Education and Career Journey

After graduating high school, I earned a degree in Physics from Hampden-Sydney College. Returning to my hometown of Bozeman, I studied Civil and Environmental Engineering at Montana State University, where my interest in Hydrology ignited a passion for working with data.

Throughout my career, I’ve worn many hats—service industry manager, irrigation technician, and now, data engineer. Each role taught me valuable lessons in leadership, problem-solving, and collaboration.

My Passion for Data

In 2023, I enrolled in a Data Engineering bootcamp, diving deep into tools like Python, SQL, and AWS. After graduating, I joined the bootcamp as a mentor, teaching and inspiring students while continuing to expand my skills.

Today and Beyond

Currently, I teach data engineering classes and focus on mastering cloud services and cutting-edge data engineering practices. I’m driven by curiosity and a passion for making an impact through the power of data.
